Pool systems design

PFC has designed the HVAC and pool water services for multiple major pool complexes around the South Island. These include: Jellie Park, Graham Condon Leisure Centre, Blenheim Pool and Selwyn Aquatic Centre. Our ability to design the entire mechanical package of work is to your advantage, and we have proven our ability to perform.

Hospital and health services

In the last four years PFC have designed the mechanical services for major projects at Christchurch Public, St George's, Burwood, Manuka St, Grey District & Bidwill hospital, amongst other health facilities. Our technical experience includes medical gases, diagnostic imaging areas, and clean rooms ensuring competent design of critical hospital services.

Greenstar and energy efficiency

Aside from delivering cost effective, efficient, and innovative HVAC systems to our clients requirements, we have taken a leading role in the area of Green Buildings. Within our mechanical team we have Greenstar Accredited Professionals equipped to undertake both the mechanical services design and/or be in the role of overall Greenstar Consultant to your project. We have recently completed the Showplace office block and Christchurch Civic Offices designs which are aiming to achieve five and six star ratings. Outside the boundaries of the Greenstar system we are continually investigating technologies for increasing the efficiency of building services systems and reducing the system life cycle cost.

Renewable energy solutions

As part of our focus on sustainable design, PFC have driven the development of biomass fuelled heating systems in New Zealand. We have the connections and the experience to advise on options for conversion of existing boiler systems or installation of complete new systems to bring fully renewable solutions to your project. We recently completed ten coal to wood pellet boiler conversions and four new boilers served by wood pellets or wood chip. We have also conducted investigative studies for ECAN on the costs and environmental benefits of boiler conversions to biomass for several areas in Canterbury, and for private groups have produced studies on options for co-generation and on the availability of wood waste within the Otago and Southland areas.

NZBC H1 assessments

Recent changes to the New Zealand Building Code require assessment of the building thermal envelope under clause H1. PFC have already completed over 100 assessments and have extensive knowledge that means that we can process your assessment efficiently.
