Christchurch College of Education

This was a fully integrated project involving all of the Powell Fenwick Consultants Limited disciplines.

The Crossing

A two storey development with car parking, seismic strengthening, the relocation of the existing facade and an air bridge to Ballantynes. A historic brick facade weighing 40 tonnes was moved along the street in this project.

Selwyn House School Tech Block

To make it easier for their clients to convey their needs (not being engineering literate) PFC set up a working model of the building.

Environment Canterbury Office

The seismic strengthening of two buildings standing side by side and a new Christchurch City Civil Defence Centre designed to the highest earthquake standards.

New Brighton Library

This exciting award winning building with its unusual shape and sloping roof was designed by Powell Fenwick Consultants structural design team. Special care was taken with corrosion protection and the building was specially designed to resist a tsunami.

Curtin Residence

Many of our houses win awards and this beautiful home was no exception. PFC designs sympathetic and refined solutions to enhance any architectural design.

Hornby Working Men's Club

This extraordinary retrofit was another PFC integrated effort with all departments working together.

St Georges Hospital

This four story ward and operating theatre block, complete with basement level carparking involved all of the Powell Fenwick Consultants Ltd. disciplines.

Lakeside Apartments - Wanaka

These four story luxury apartments on a lake front property in Wanaka included dealing with difficult Geotechnical site issues.

The Quay Apartments - Nelson

This six story beach front apartment block in Nelson was designed to allow staged construction, enabling work on site to continue with residents living in adjacent apartments.

Cuddon House - Blenheim

A contemporary house design built using precast concrete on an exposed hillside site in Blenheim. Powell Fenwick Consultants Ltd. worked closely with the architect and the builders to create an easily built and attractive home. The house features large cantilevers, exposed concrete and some challenging bracing issues.

Hornby Mall

This suburban shopping centre upgrade included additions of a new supermarket with a rooftop carpark, new retail areas and significant internal alteration work of the existing building.

Richmond Mall - Nelson

The additions and alterations of the existing shopping mall have made this the largest shopping mall in the South Island, outside of Christchurch.

Smith House - Clearwater Resort

This House of the Year winner included exposed precast concrete and steel elements. Careful design and detailing of structural elements was required to ensure that all fixings were hidden and large precast concrete elements were able to be easily transported and placed on site.
