Jellie Park

Powell Fenwick designed and completed all engineering services for the extension to the existing facility. This consisted of a new 25m pool, learners pool and multiple spa pools. Powell Fenwick worked closely with the Christchurch City Council to integrate a number of energy efficient features.

This included utilising artesian water and heat recovery from the exhaust air, along with a number of other features, to deliver a complex that was designed to be the most efficient pool in Christchurch at the time.

The complex was subsequently monitored and audited by the Christchurch City Council Energy Manager and is exceeding its design objectives. The innovative and energy efficient features implemented have since been used as a bench mark for subsequent aquatic facilities around New Zealand.
